Honorable
Laura Richardson
Commander of U.S Southern Command.

Miami, August 8th, 2024

It is an honor to address you in this opportunity to express my strong disagreement regarding your statement on Venezuela where it was pointed out that the solution to the crisis will be a democratic one and not a military one.

Venezuela is a failed state, governed by a tyrant who utilizes the Armed Forces to protect guerrilla groups, drug cartels, and terrorists. This is why they are not willing to relinquish power and concede an election that they clearly lost on July 28th. They do not respect the results and command the military members to massacre civilians for protesting against the electoral fraud.

Similarly, Nicolas Maduro – who is currently usurping the presidency of Venezuela – is wanted by U.S authorities, and a 15 million dollar reward was issued to be given to anyone who helps in his capture. The Minister of Defense, Vladimir Padrino Lopez, was also targeted by U.S authorities with a 10 million dollar reward, and so are many other members of the illegitimate cabinet.

The Venezuelan regime represents a threat to the security of the United States and the stability of the American continent, given their direct links with the enemies of peace. They support criminal organizations like drug cartels and international terrorism.

The solution to the Venezuelan situation is not a democratic one, but rather a military and police one. The longer this takes to be understood, the more exodus will occur and suffering will continue while the Venezuelan tyranny keeps oppressing those who stay in the country.

Sincerely,

José Antonio Colina
